About us
ElecTrain™
ElecTrain was founded in 2017. Our primary mission is to improve safety through knowledge and performance. ElecTrain was established to provide the training and consulting to support organizations that do not have the resources or experience to provide their own. We pride ourselves with engaging students, providing meaningful training, and meeting the electrical safety needs of our customers.
Our experienced instructors have helped improve electrical safety in our industry and continue to support by participating in technical committees for electrical safety standards, electrical safety programs, and forums such as EFCOG Electrical Safety Task Group and IEEE Electrical Safety Workshop. Our quality of training and service has been proven time and time again through customer testimonials and student feedback. We continue to hold ourselves to a higher standard and hope to raise the bar for electrical training across the industry.
Andrew Olsen
President
Andrew Olsen first completed electrical training from the Electronics Technician program at Bellingham Technical College. He then entered the U.S. Navy as a nuclear trained electrician’s mate and served for 9 years on board nuclear submarines. When he left the service in 2009, he started working as the lead electrical instructor and as an electric shop supervisor for Energy Northwest at the commercial nuclear facility, Columbia Generating Station. He then developed the initial curriculum and instructed for several years for the Nuclear Technology Program at Columbia Basin College. He later worked for Mission Support Alliance, a contractor of the Department of Energy, as the Electrical Program Manager for the HAMMER Federal Training Center for the Hanford Site.
Mr. Olsen has experience in many different fields including electrical safety, batteries, meters, relays, motor-operated valve diagnostics, data recorders, vibration monitoring, and motor diagnostics. He performed instruction and consultation for public organizations since 2014 and later founded elecTrain in 2017. Andrew is a Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional through the NFPA. His work in improving electrical safety has been published multiple times and presented in forums such as the EFCOG Electrical Safety Task Group and the IEEE Electrical Safety Workshop.
