Information we collect and why
When you contact us, enroll in training, check in, create an account, or purchase merchandise, we collect the information you provide. This may include your name, email, company, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, order details, and messages. We use it to respond, manage enrollments and orders, arrange shipping, process payments and refunds, and send service-related communications.
Training records include sessions, attendance, completion approvals, certificates, and any optional professional-license details you provide. We also maintain historical records supplied through course rosters. These records support training administration, certificate retrieval, and employer reporting. Creating a student login is separate from checking in for a class.
Feedback and testimonials
We collect course feedback to improve training and identify requested training or services. Employer feedback reports omit student names. Written comments can still identify someone through their content, so avoid including information you do not want included in a report. Attendance and certificate reports include student names and may be provided to the employer associated with that training.
Public use of a feedback excerpt as a testimonial requires the permission you provide on the feedback form. Your attribution choices are separate from course completion and certificate eligibility.
Payments, service providers, and backups
Stripe and PayPal process payments. Information needed for a transaction is shared with the selected provider; we retain order and payment references for administration and refunds. Their handling of information is explained in their respective privacy policies: Stripe and PayPal.
We use WooCommerce and its connected tax service to operate the shop and calculate taxes using order and address information. We use Amelia to manage training bookings, Microsoft email services for communications, HostGator for website hosting, and Box for site and record backups. Shipping providers receive the information needed to deliver your order. These services process information as part of delivering their services and may process or store it outside your country.
Authorized staff and instructors access information needed for their work. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the security and rights of ElecTrain and its users.
Cookies, website activity, and embedded content
The site uses cookies and similar technology for sign-in, shopping carts, checkout, preferences, and site operation. Website and connected services may record technical information such as IP address, browser information, and activity to operate, measure, and protect the site. Blocking cookies may prevent some features from working.
Embedded content, such as videos, may collect information and use cookies according to the provider’s policies. If you submit a public comment, the comment and associated profile information may be displayed publicly; technical information may be used for spam prevention.
WordPress profile pictures may be supplied by Gravatar using a coded identifier derived from an email address. When a Gravatar image is requested, the service also receives connection information such as the visitor’s IP address. See Automattic’s privacy policy for information about that service.
Retention and your requests
We retain information for the purposes described here, including maintaining training and certificate histories, fulfilling orders, handling support and disputes, and meeting recordkeeping obligations. Backup copies may remain after information is changed or removed from the active site until those backups are replaced under the backup schedule.
You can contact info@electrain.com to request access to or correction of your information, or to request deletion. We may need to verify your identity. Some records may need to be retained for legal, accounting, security, or other applicable recordkeeping purposes. Contact us if you want to change permission for future public testimonial use.
