Electric Vehicle Safety
Training and Certification
Level 1 Certification
Level 2 Certification
Level 3 Certification
Level 1 Certification
This training prepares automotive technicians to work on or in the vicinity of High Voltage Electric Vehicles. The student will learn and demonstrate the ability to identify major components, recognize hazardous components, understand basic electrical hazards, and recognize the limitations and responsibilities that Level 1 certification provides. A student with this certification is authorized to work on components and systems of an electric vehicle excluding any and all High Voltage components. Students must pass a written evaluation.
Course Duration: 4 hours
Level 2 Certification
This training prepares automotive technicians, engineers, and safety personnel to be able to safely shutdown a High Voltage Electric Vehicle and establish and electrically safe working condition to allow for work on the High Voltage system. The student will learn and demonstrate the ability to understand the construction and operation of High Voltage Systems, understand electrical hazards and proper mitigation, and safely utilize electrical PPE and equipment to verify the High Voltage system is de-energized, A student with this certification is authorized to deenergize HV EVs, establish an electrically safe working condition, recommission the vehicle, and recognize the limitation and responsibilities that Level 2 certification provides. Students must pass both written and performance evaluations.
Course Duration: 20 hours
Level 3 Certification
This training prepares automotive technicians, engineers, safety personnel, and battery technicians to work in the vicinity of High Voltage Battery Systems. The student will learn and demonstrate the ability to apply safe electrical work practices, perform electrical hazard and risk assessment, and safely utilize electrical PPE and equipment to perform electrical tasks and make a battery safe. A student with this certification is authorized to make damaged EV systems safe and to work within the battery enclosure to perform live electrical tasks. Students must pass both written and performance evaluations.
Course Duration: 16 hours
Safe Handling of Li-Ion Batteries
This training is an introduction into the hazards of Li-Ion Batteries, their operation, applications, safe handling and PPE requirements, and more. If you work with Li-Ion batteries or are incorporating them into your workplace, this is a perfect introduction into how to work with them safely and effectively.
Course Duration: 4 hours
EV Safety Programs and Consultation
Electrical Safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Programs are required for organizations that interface with hazardous high voltage systems. ElecTrain can support you in the development of your own safety programs, or you can purchase your own basic EV Safety Program template from ElecTrain that is designed specifically with High Voltage EV hazards in mind. It incorporates the required elements of an Electrical Safety Program and a LOTO Program into a single document for ease of application and understanding. With just a couple customizations such as adding your company logo and header, this program is ready for you to implement right away!
